Juno

In case I haven't mentioned it yet, I am really excited for the movie Juno. The trailer is hilarious and it scored a 95% on the Rotten Tomatoes critics list thing. I've been trying to figure out why it is PG-13 (besides the fact that it is about teen pregnancy) to decide if I should watch it in theaters or wait until I can fast forward edit it myself, so if anyone sees it, please let me know. Meanwhile, I love the music on the trailer. The director Jason Reitman asked the actress Ellen Page (who is playing Juno) what music she thought Juno would listen to and she said The Moldy Peaches. So he contacted Kimya Dawson and she did some solo work and included some Moldy Peaches songs. Here are two of my favorite:

Anyone Else But You

I Like Giants

Warning: Some of their songs have explicit lyrics. Not these two though.

p.s. Chances are, if you are reading my blog we are good enough friends that you won't judge me, but if you have been listening to The Moldy Peaches for a long time and are thinking, that is so two years ago, don't be too harsh on me. I live in Idaho.

Cute!

I have been thinking lately that there really is ONE thing that is the cutest thing on the earth, and that one thing is kittens. The real small small kittens that have really small ears and too big of head and are real fuzzy. I declare, there is nothing cuter, even if you do not like cats. I don't like cats to get hair on me or rub on my legs or be in anyone's house, but that does not bias my opinion that kittens win the cute award on this planet. I have provided some images as examples:

Image 1: From "The Rand McNally Book of Favorite Enchanted Tales." My great-aunt recorded stories from this book on tapes for us to listen to as kids. These are the Seven Wonderful Cats. And they ARE wonderful! Not only are they so so so cute, they went to school, sang and played musical instruments, didn't chase the birds, and even saved a sick little lamb. So CUTE!

Image 2: I randomly found this on the internet, but I had to save it. Look at his little mouth and big eyes! Every time I see this my head almost explodes for cuteness.

If any reader thinks they may know of something cuter, prove it! With photos. I don't think it can be done. And you can't just randomly choose one of your baby relatives because of course they are cute to you. Kittens are the universal cuteness.

My sign

When I was in the cow pasture with my grandpa on Monday I saw a pattern of cow manure in the shape of the Hawaiian Islands:

I had to label them because my cell phone doesn't take the best of pictures. But, good picture or not, it must be a sign. People are always seeing things in every day objects, like the Virgin Mary on toast or whatever. I saw the Hawaiian Islands in cow manure. What could it possibly mean?

It can be beautiful here.

We have been having the most beautiful sunsets lately, and while I was driving the tractor last week I wanted to capture one, but not only is it basically impossible for a picture to look like real life, I only had my phone at the time. So this was the best I could do, but it is pretty. Imagine it with real fluorescent pinks and bright light blues. I like it here.

I wondered what job I've been looking for...

The BYU alumni association had been sending me a LOT of emails to sign up on the alumni we-help-you-find-a-job website and I thought to myself, why not. I might as well use all of the resources I have. Part of signing up was taking an hour long quiz to find what kind of job I was good for, including a profile of my total person. After a semi-traumatic series of personality questions, vocabulary tests, this : this :: that : that, and two sections of math, this is what it told me:

"You appear to be attracted to positions in which you may apply creative problem solving, especially in industrial settings. Your interests are focused on the Creative, Mechanical and People Service themes on the ProfileXT. The composite results here suggest an emphasis on working with and serving the needs of a client or customer through industrial pursuits."

Does that sound like graphic design to anyone else? I enjoyed all the feedback it gave me. I am supposed to use it to improve myself professionally. Some other comments (and probably more than you want to read) were:

Learning Index: Overall, you can be expected to complete a new training program with at least adequate success.

Verbal Skill: Your analysis of communication related concepts should be sharp and on target.

Verbal Reasoning (Using words as a basis in reasoning and problem solving.):
Information gathering is a strength of yours.
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary and an excellent capability for verbal expression.

You learn verbal information more easily than average.

Manageability: You have a moderately positive attitude concerning organizational constraints and restrictions.

Sociability (Tendency to be outgoing, people-oriented and participate with others.):
You express a low interest in the opportunity to socialize with people, to establish a network of contacts.

Numerical Ability (A measure of numeric calculation ability.):
You may not have had much recent opportunity to use numbers in work.
You sometimes may prefer to use a calculator or computer to handle some numerical problems.

You may need extra time at first in mentally computing numerical information.
With training and experience, you should be able to improve your accuracy in carrying out mathematical functions as they apply to the job.

Numeric Reasoning (Using numbers as a basis in reasoning and problem solving.): Your ability to assimilate information that is mathematical or numerical in nature is sufficient at a general level.

Well, this is what I say to those who think I need to use mathematical functions as they apply to my job. Or what Bill Watterson says:

My Office Confession

This past weekend I realized, once I was out of my house and talking to people besides my parents, that other people don't know as much about The Office and the actors on it as I do. I was even called an "Officephile" (thanks Cole...). I hadn't realized how out of hand it was getting and I hearby proclaim that I am going to become a normal The Office watcher and limit my fan following to watching the shows on Thursday nights and the deleted scenes on nbc.com. No more visiting the The Office fansite I used to frequent. I wasted a lot of time on that. No more! I am now becoming a normal person. Designing an Office t-shirt every week? Who does that?

I am so angry!

Could someone please tell me why I can't get a photo to work in the header bar of my blog?!! I have tried uploading one a hundred times. Any secrets I don't know about? It is a jpeg. It should work!

This is Halloween

I love Halloween. I love dressing up and carving pumpkins. I love going to a good haunted house. My brothers and I carved some great pumpkins. Kyle did our families brand, Drew made a snowboarder and I did a cat. For my costume this year, after my sad and failed attempt, my mom made me a hood for my Halloween costume. That is right. I am 25 and my mom had to make my costume. It turned out fun. I wanted to be Pen from Adventure Time and look at the sweet hat she made me:

And yes, this might be the most unattractive picture of me ever, but I will still post it. No one at the party I went to knew who Pen was, which was kind of lame. That is what I get for being so cool I guess. Too cool for school.

My dad came with me to a haunted house called The Fear Factory. Before we went, my brother told me six people had already wet their pants there because it was so scary. I was pretty excited. But it wasn't scary. A local school had put it together as a fund raiser, which was neat. The scariest part was a school bus that had a dead driver and a lot of little little kids bouncing on the seats with dead paint on their faces begging for help. The funniest part was when we walked out the back door to see a van driving toward the people in front of us at full speed to scare them, then back up to get into place for the next group.
