I've been working all day listening to the Andrew Bird Pandora radio station (I went to his show two nights ago and he totally blew my mind, won my heart, changed my life, etc., etc., etc. and I can't get enough. I'd go watch him every day if I could. He is the real thing, the Sultan of Swat, The Titan of Terror, The Colossus of Clout, The Colossus of Clout... ok enough about that, back to the post)
So anyway, I'm listening away and without warning Another Lonely Day started playing by Ben Harper. Ben Harper was my first true celebrity love. Ben Harper was the first real concert I went to. I had t-shirts, bags, stickers, framed posters with his autograph, cds, you name it. I loved that man. But since I returned home from my mission I haven't really listened to him at all. I'm not sure why, I didn't love his new music and I guess I just kind of stored the old stuff and got into other music. Maybe I felt like I grew out of that celebrity crush. But moments like just now bring back it all rushing back. Some music can just reach into your heart and pull out your soul. Really good violin music does it for me. Ben Harper also apparently still does it for me. The slide guitar especially. I will literally melt right onto the floor if anyone is playing a slide guitar where I can hear it. Especially if they are playing Ben Harper.
