I live on top of the world, if the world was a subway map.

Thursday I was feeling VERY lucky and I WON the lottery to see In The Heights the musical (if you don't know, the lottery means I go at 5:30, write my name on a slip of paper and put it in a bucket, some girl draws names and like ten people win. I was VERY happy to have been called). Holly and I live in Washington Heights so it was extra fun. We were on the front row right behind the conductor, who talked to us a couple of times (but did not block our view). The stage looked exactly like we were looking out Holly's window at the George Washington Bridge. The music was amazing. The dancing was amazing. The set was great. Everyone has seen that bodega and unisex salon before. I loved being SO CLOSE and seeing the face of Lin-Manuel Miranda (who wrote and stars in the show) and I believed it was real. If you get the chance, GO SEE THIS SHOW! I love musicals and I would say this is probably the best I've seen (It DID win the Tony for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestrations this year). Best $26.50 I'VE ever spent! Thanks lottery for scoring me such great seats!

I've never heard of this musical before....I guess that doesn't say much for the cultural side of me.

Ashley, we followed your lead unknowingly. I forgot you had posted this when we tried out the lottery this past saturday night. And Emily, my wife, had her Dad in town, so we were trying for three tickets, and we won. A small miracle. Superb show, really hits deeper for those living here in NY.
