"On June 5, 1976, the collapse of the Teton River Dam unleashed a savage flood which caused $500 million in damage, took eleven lives, and made thousands homeless in Wilford, Sugar City, Rexburg, Salem, Hibbard, Firth, Blackfoot, and Roberts.
This tragedy was turned into triumph by the victims’ own faith and courage and by an outpouring of aid by many volunteers from Idaho and nearby states. For this reason over a thousand runners flood the streets to take on their own personal challenge of running a race. "
My family does have a few interesting stories about when the dam broke.
If anyone else is running it and wants to sit by me at the Potato Bake, I accept!

that sounds like such a cool race! and such a cool reason too. i wish you the best of luck. marathons are hard but definitely worth the personal challenge.
Good luck! My dream is for a half marathon, but maybe next year.
Also, did you know I was visiting my cousins in Rexburg the day the dam broke?
Wow! Good luck. Last year I was running a lot and one day I wanted to see how far I could go. I went just shy of 14 miles.....which is a tid bit more than a half marathon, so I was proud!! I would love to do it with you another year!! I will just barely have had our baby in June.....
