Backpack Backpack

Here is a fairly unattractive picture of me and my bag.

Amalia and I didn't communicate very well before our trip. She was super busy with the Fork Fest so I kind of gave up asking her questions about what and how much she was bringing. Not like either of us knew what to bring, having never been on a trip like this. Multiple people recommended I get the size 75 bag. I really like the bag itself. But I can fit a lot in it. I have all my rock climbing gear, plus I have attached my rope bag to the back which adds a lot of weight (you can kind of see it in the picture). I brought enough conditioner and gel for 6 months, which I guess is kind of heavy, but as I use it it will get lighter. I didn't bring THAT many clothes. I do have more than Amalia (her bag is a 65), which messes up the laundry schedule a little. But I've used everything I have. I do have the biggest bag of all the backpackers around here. The bus driver from this morning made fun of me. Should I be embarrassed? At REI the guy helping me size my bag gave me the impression that if I have the straps set all right I would be able to stand up straight no matter how heavy the bag is. I haven't quite figured that out yet. Any advice is appreciated (but not if the advice is to throw out my conditioner).

Oh my goodness. I have this problem too. One tip though...I don't think the bag is supposed to lean back so far..it looks like it is making you compensate it's lean by leaning forward. Does that make sense?

I will now take this time to tell you about when I fell over in the Manilla airport because my bag was so heavy. In my defense...I was holding lots of stuff to, so I was out of sorts.

do you need to pull that top strap behind your shoulders? There is a pretty big gap right there? Reminds me of my EU trip with my 120lb pack.

I just got caught up on all your blogs. Looks like more fun then what I'm doing every day 7am-3:45pm.

Berkley has not mentioned your bday faux paux for awhile so I think your balloons and gift fixed the problem.

Have fun with all those sheep.

I just caught up on all your posts. It looks like you are having some good times. I'm pretty dang jealous of the climbing attempt. Don't let mice run across your hand, always wear the twine and keep up the good work :) Oh and DO NOT throw out the conditioner!
