kitties. I love them.

My awesome dad has been sending me pictures from our farm every Sunday. I hope he sends me some until the barley is all grown and I will make a flip book of it growing. That will be awesome. He has also been sending me pictures of our cute little kittens. I love tiny kittens. I have posted once already about how cute I think they are. But I don't like animals in the house. So I can never have one whilst I live in the city. I will just look at the pictures my dad sends. You can too:

I'll throw one in of the baby horse, just for good measure.

False advertising.

I was browsing the new Anthropologie catalog, and the item I wanted most of all were these galoshes on the front cover. I like them. But they were not anywhere in the catalog to buy. So, I emailed the customer service email form and asked where I could get them and all they answered back was, "Unfortunately additional information is not available for this item. The item was purchased as a prop for our recent photo shoot. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." I don't think that was an acceptable answer. The stylist who worked on that shoot knows where the boots came from. Ask them. I really have been wanting boots to wear in the rain for a while. I haven't bought any before because when I was younger, moving pipe on our farm, we had what we called "irrigation boots" that we wore to keep our pants dry. I had both knee-high and thigh-high boots, thank you very much, and they look basically just like the boots girls have been wearing around. I've been considering just buying some more knee-high boots from the local Cal Ranch to wear as galoshes. They can't be much different than the boots people are buying these days, except that they only come in black, no little cherry pattern option or anything like that.

Snow! Snow! Snow!

I love it! I love the snow! We haven't had this much snow since I was a kid. I hope we get more. We need more snow to fill the reservoirs so the farmers can have water through the whole summer. More snow = good skiing. Too much snow = I couldn't go skiing because all the roads were closed to Driggs. It has melted a little now.

home

This picture, since it is too poor quality to tell, is of my brother putting a water line together at night at the bottom of an 8 foot trench. I was holding the flash light. It was an important job. The water line for the automatic water trough for the cow pasture had been smashed under the church they are building so my Grandpa had a new one dug and we had to put the line in and bury it before the dirt all froze. That is why we were working outside in a trench in freezing temperatures in Rexburg Idaho. I think it is fun. But I was only holding the light and trying to be moral support for my brother who was using the shovel to bury the line and also using a torch to warm it up and put connectors in and did not think it was fun. Then the torch quit working (probably because he was so rough on it) then we were running out of pipe and clamps. My Grandpa magically found enough pipe and we were using a propane tank that was leaking like crazy but we finished it and no one blew up. And it worked the next day.

Here are some other pictures of things we do on my farm. I took most them two summers ago to send to my friends at Martha Stewart. That is why I managed to be in every one of them.
